Charlie Beatson, age 72, Albany, died Friday March 1, 2024 at home following an illness.  Born in Muncie on November 4, 1951, he grew up in Muncie and was a 1970 graduate of Southside High School.  Charlie was a longtime Albany resident and worked as a journeyman pipefitter at various locations including Johnson Controls, Ball State University, and Landis.  Known by his friends as "MacGyver", he could build or fix nearly anything.  He was a people-person and enjoyed being outdoors and cooking out.  He belonged to Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 440 and was a former member of Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M.  Charlie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Karla Beatson; son: Barney Beatson (wife: Sarah), Cockeysville, MD; daughter: Amanda Underkoffler (husband: Lyle), New Vernon, NJ; step-son: Lee Gaines, Eaton, OH; step-daughter: Lana Gaines, Albany; brother: David Beatson (wife: Sharon), Fortville; sisters: Linda Lindley (husband: Steve), Muncie, and Kathy Thornburg (husband: Donald "Doc"), Marion; 8 grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Joseph & Jeanne (Cunningham) Beatson, and nieces: Sarah Lindley and Shay Beatson.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place.
