Carmen A. Sharp, age 95, formerly of Albany, died Thursday May 29, 2025 in Mobile, Alabama. Born in Muncie on November 30, 1929, she was a 1948 graduate of Albany High School. She worked at the Albany Municipal Office for 24 years before retiring in 1993. Carmen was a longtime member of Albany United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter: Connie Andrews (husband: Richard), Mobile, AL; brother: William Weisse (wife: Sally), Muncie; grandchildren: Alan Andrews (Melissa), Jesica Andrews, Douglas Atkinson (Sara), Megan Wallace (Clyde), Jamie Atkinson, Shaun Atkinson (Erin), Jeff Atkinson (Katy), and Barbara Atkinson; great-grandchildren: Raegan, Benjamin, Johnny, Nicholas, Cye, Zarya, Charlotte, Lincoln, Oliver, Isla, and Emory; and two great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by husbands James L. Atkinson (1981) and Curtis O. Sharp (2004); sons: David and Alan Atkinson, sister: Betty Ingram, and parents: William & Zella (Crum) Weisse.
The memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Albany United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the church.
