Bud (William S.) Potter, age 82, Albany, died Saturday July 28, 2018 at home following an extended illness.  Born in Friendsville, TN on June 27, 1936, he grew up there and attended Maryville College before moving to Baltimore, MD.  He lived there for ten years and had lived in Muncie before moving to Albany in 1991.  Bud retired from Westinghouse/ABB Power, Muncie, after working there thirty-two years as a welder.  He also worked briefly for Amtrak in Beech Grove and had his own Salerno Cookies distributorship for around five years.  He enjoyed playing gospel hymns on the piano, a talent he beheld for most of his life.  Other hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, and boating.  Bud was a member of Riverview Church of The Nazarene and attended White Chapel Church near Albany.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Lynn Potter, and their sons: Duane Potter (wife: Juanita K.), Albany, and Dwight Potter (wife: Debbie), Hanover; a sister: Ganna Yonne Parks, Unitia, TN; five grandchildren: Brandon R. Potter (wife: Maren), Muncie, Stephanie K. (Potter) Miniear (husband: Andrew), Muncie, Joseph Potter, Bloomington, Reba Potter, New Albany, and Mary (Potter) Hendricks (husband: Cody), Hanover; four great-grandchildren: Gage, Bentley, Laura, and Connor; several nieces & nephews including Wayne Parks, Spring City, TN, and David Potter, Cincinnati, OH.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Emory C. & Ada M. (Hair) Potter, and a brother: Adrian Potter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Meacham Funeral Service with burial following at Black Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
