Betty (Connor) Whetsel, age 92, Dunkirk, died Thursday February 15, 2024 at The Waters of Dunkirk.  Born in Delaware County on January 13, 1932, she grew up near Albany and lived the past several years on East Center Street in Dunkirk.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to church music and watching tv – especially the news.  Betty was a loving wife and mother; she will be sadly missed by her family.

Survivors include (son) Mark Whetsel and (daughter) Jeannie Shewmake, both of Dunkirk; five grandchildren: Jennifer Shewmake (husband: Kenny), Farmland, Austin Shewmake, Albany, Amber Shewmake, Muncie, Brittney Shewmake, Portland, Zachary Beal, Dunkirk, and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry E. Whetsel; two daughters: Julie Kay Whetsel and Cheryl Ann Whetsel; and her parents: Owen R. & Dorothy L. (Rickert) Connor.

Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service.

Visiting hours are Sunday from 3 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Private interment will take place at Black Cemetery near Albany.
