DUNKIRK – Barbara M. Gannon, age 63, rural Dunkirk, died Friday night at home following a brief illness. Born in Indianapolis on Feb. 28, 1952, she grew up in Hartford City and was a resident of Delaware County since 1996. She graduated from Blackford High School in 1970 and attended Ball State University. Barbara worked for Dr. Roger Frazier in Hartford City for 19 years and enjoyed working with her husband, Lonnie, on their farm for several years. She belonged to the Belted Galloway Association and in earlier years was involved in Girl Scouts, bowling, and substitute teaching within the Blackford School Corporation. She enjoyed fishing, tractor shows, and reading.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 18 years, Lonnie J. Gannon; a daughter: Christine S. Shewalter (husband: Ric A.), Royal Center; a brother: John Crankshaw, St. Petersburg, FL; a sister: Kathy Lang (husband: Charlie), Ocala, FL; 2 grandchildren: Anna & Samuel; nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: James F. & Julia Crankshaw, and her biological mother: Dee Swift.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday September 8, 2015, at Strong Cemetery, Albany. Burial will follow.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service.
