Obituary

LOGAN, WV – Anna "Susie" Childers, longtime Logan resident, died Thursday evening at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center, Winchester, Indiana, from natural causes.  She was 88 years of age.  Susie was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, on August 5, 1925.  She grew up in West Virginia where she lived most of her life and had lived in Indiana for the past few years.  She was a homemaker and volunteered at Logan General Hospital for several years.  Susie was a member of Rita Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons: Charles E. Childers, Jr. (wife: Reva), Tulsa, OK, Thomas Childers (wife: Anita), Dunkirk, IN, and Larry Childers (wife: Jill), Dunkirk, IN; her brother: Clifton Turkale (wife: Mary), Earling, WV; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles E. Childers, Sr.; two children: Forest Childers and Geneva (Childers) Blackburn; her parents: Paul Markus and Sally (Adams) Markus Turkale; three brothers, and an infant sister.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, WV.  There will be no calling hours.

Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society.
