Obituary

Anna Louise (McIntire) Hendrix, age 95, Albany, died Tuesday June 16, 2026 at home. Born in Hartford City on April 15, 1931, she grew up in Hartford City and was a graduate of Muncie Central High School. She was a former Muncie resident and had lived in Albany for several years.

Anna was an excellent seamstress, making many of her daughters’ clothes. She passed this and her cooking skills along to her daughters. Nobody could make a better rump roast with browned potatoes and carrots or a better raspberry pie than she. She was also an accomplished musician who played the piano beautifully and in high school she played the French horn. Anna enjoyed watching her children develop various skills and took great pride in their accomplishments.

Survivors include her children: Diane Giese (Warren), Bruce Hendrix (Dawn), and Connie Kramer (Steve); six grandchildren: Jeff Vanet, Dana Hanley, Chris Giese, Danielle Kramer, Josie and Bailey Hendrix; thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Fredrick Hendrix, who died in 2003; her parents: Ernest B. and Hilda McIntire; a sister: Kathryn Cole, and four brothers: Lawrence, Robert, Wayne, and Richard McIntire.

Anna’s burial will be at Gardens of Memory in Muncie next to Jim, her husband, with a private family graveside service. Meacham Funeral Service, Albany is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
