Obituary

Longtime Redkey resident Allan Gibbs died Thursday April 2, 2026 at his home following an illness at the age of 90. Born in Alco, Arkansas on May 26, 1935, he moved around growing up and came to Indiana in the 1950s. Allan was a designer at Wearly Monuments in Muncie for 42 years before his retirement in 2000. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean War and was a member of First Community Baptist Church, Redkey, and American Legion Post 353, Farmland. Allan was a kind, caring man who enjoyed being with his family – he was the best Dad and Papaw that anyone could ask for.

Survivors include a son: Mark Gibbs, Chicago, IL; daughter: Teresa Hartsock, Farmland; sister: Barbara Resecer (husband: Lonnie), Muskogee, OK; 4 grandchildren: Shannon Alford (Tony), Lindsey Patty (Julie), Morgan Bube, and Chance Gibbs (Ashley); 3 great-grandchildren: Kole Neal, Ashten Wilt, and Cayden Wilt, and his beloved dog: Mindy.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Peggy Gibbs; son: Chris Gibbs; infant son: Guy Allan Gibbs; daughter: Penny Gibbs; grandson: Zachary McIlwain; granddaughters: Christie Gibbs and Jenny Wilt; brother: Mike Gibbs, and sister: Shirley Ray.

Plans for a memorial service are pending at First Community Baptist Church, Redkey.
