Wendell H. Raines, 91, Dunkirk, died Friday November 15, 2019 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an illness. Born in Fayetteville, Indiana on September 8, 1928, he graduated from Fayetteville High School with the class of 1947. He worked over 40 years in the floral/greenhouse business with the last 25 years as owner & operator of Maraines Greenhouses in Dunkirk.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Adeline Raines; 5 sons: Michael Raines, Dunkirk, Randy Raines (wife: Sherry), Paragon, Richard Raines (wife: Debbie), Dunkirk, Walter Raines (wife: Pam), Franklin, and Jim Raines, Greenwood; a daughter: Wendy Blakley (husband: Michael), Hartford City; 2 brothers: Charles Raines (wife: Sue), Fayetteville, and Harold Raines (wife: Joni), Fayetteville; 5 sisters: Elizabeth Craig, Fayetteville, Lorene New (husband: Daniel), Avoca, Betty McGill, Bedford, Geraldine Dunn (husband: Jack), Fayetteville, and Sue Murphy, Bedford; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Reba (Baker) Raines; 2 brothers: Donald Raines and Bill Raines, and 2 sisters: Margaret Raines and Martha Bolton.
A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Dunkirk.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 12 until 1 p.m. at the church.
