Rogina K. “Kay” Sanders, age 71, Albany, died Tuesday October 23, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Muncie on May 28, 1947, she grew up in Muncie and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1967. Kay worked nineteen years at Indiana Glass Co., Dunkirk, until the factory closed. She was an avid doll collector and loved animals of all kinds. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden, writing poetry, and watching wrestling.
Survivors include her husband, Randall Sanders; a son: Brandon Duncan, Stearns, KY; two daughters: Amy Ross, Lexington, KY, and Heather Colsten Minor, Culpepper, VA; a step-son: Jason Sanders, Winchester; a step-daughter: Ashley Davis, Greenville, OH; two sisters: Joyce Frey, Muncie, and Dee Ann Wright, Greenwood; a special friend: Kurtis Mincer, Albany; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Winiford & Vada (Heston) Frye; a brother: Estel Brown, Sr.; a sister: Kathleen Coffman, and a granddaughter: Nevaeh Grace Grillio.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday October 26, 2018 at Meacham Funeral Service.
Private family services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with burial to follow.
Memorials may be sent to the Humane Society or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
