ALBANY – Florene “Flo” Lowe, age 82, Albany, died Wednesday February 21, 2018 at home following an extended illness. Born May 2, 1935 in Norma, TN, she grew up there and graduated from Norma High School. She lived in Dunkirk for several years before moving back to Tennessee and in 2007 moved to Albany. Flo was a homemaker and over the years worked at Kerr Glass, Miller’s Merry Manor, and in the cafeteria at Westlawn Elementary School. She was a member of Dunkirk Baptist Church and attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church while living in Tennessee. Her favorite activities included quilting, crocheting, embroidery, cooking, reading, and antiquing.
Survivors include her husband of nearly sixty-five years, Gordon Lowe; two sons: Alan Lowe (wife: Charlene), Louisville, KY, and James Lowe (wife: Vicky), Jacksboro, TN; two daughters: Darlene Clevenger (husband: Randy), Jacksboro, TN, and Carolyn Melton (husband: Larry), Hartford City; a sister: Helen Duncan, LaFollette, TN; four grandchildren: Chase Lowe, Adam Cummins, Kara Kissell, and Clay Clevenger; three great-grandchildren: Silas Cummins, Scarlett Cummins, and Riggs Kissell; also surviving are several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father: Corbe Pergram, her mother: Artha (Bond) Christian, an infant brother: Sylvester Pergram, and a sister: Charlene Day.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Dunkirk Baptist Church with burial following at Strong Cemetery, Albany.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the church.
