Curly Frye

March 2, 1930 ~ June 11, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

DUNKIRK – Arvon G. “Curly” Frye, 87, Dunkirk, died Sunday June 11, 2017, at home following an illness.  Born March 2, 1930 in Trinity, Kentucky, he grew up in Kentucky and moved to Dunkirk in 1948.  Curly was a city mail carrier in Dunkirk for twenty-six years before retiring in 1990.  He was also a custodian at Westlawn Elementary School for thirteen years and a school crossing guard for approximately fifteen years.  As a Korean War veteran he served in the U.S. Navy as a damage controlman.  He was a longtime member of Dunkirk Calvary United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 227, Dunkirk, where he served on the color guard and held the office of Historian for several years.  Curly enjoyed photography, video recording, watching westerns and IU basketball.  He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years: Connie Jean (Casey) Frye; three daughters: Rita Frye Giudice (husband: Patrick), Middletown, DE, Deborah Cox (friend: Jeff Myers), Dunkirk, and Donna Price (husband: Chris), Dunkirk; a sister: Norma Lee Weaver, Mount Carmel, KY; five grandchildren: Wesley Price, Katelyn Giudice, Megan Price, Charles Alan Henry, and Gina Giudice; two great-grandchildren are expected soon; also surviving are nieces & nephews including Wilma Lee Spiegel (husband: Thomas), New Richmond, OH, and David Lanthorn (wife: Linda), Maysville, KY.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Wade L. & Stella M. (McNulty) Frye; four brothers: LaRue, Frank, Wayne, and Clinton Frye, and three sisters: Loetea Mason, Evelyn Jones, and Delma Mason.

Cremation was chosen; there will be no public services.  Burial will take place in the future at Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
