Ralph E. “Gene” Glaze, 91, Albany, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 4, 2024. Born in Delaware County on November 6, 1932, he grew up in Delaware and Randolph counties and was a 1952 graduate of Green Township High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army and worked at Warner Gear for 31 years before retiring. He was a member of Albany Lions Club and a lifetime member of Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. Gene enjoyed sports – especially basketball – and would attend many of his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s games. Being a farmer until the age of 80, Gene collected antique tractors, toy tractors, and trains. He and Dorothy loved traveling and attending horse pulls and county fairs, often taking children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of 53 years; sons: Kerry Stinson (wife: Karen), Parker City, and Eric Glaze (wife: Kathy), Selma; daughters: Theresa Johnson (special friend: Mike), Selma, Connie Swingley (husband: Tony “Pete”), Knoxville, TN, Tina Taylor (husband: Randy), Selma, and Tara Ramero (husband: Joe), Selma; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; sisters: Mary McConnell, Albany, Lula Mae Heston, Albany, and Phyllis Baird, Gas City.
He is preceded in death by parents: Ralph & Flossie (Collins) Glaze; son: Larry Glaze; brother: David Glaze; sister: Donna Belle Friend; brothers-in-law: Jerry Friend, Jim Heston, Jerry McConnell, and Jack Baird.
Living in the Albany area all his life, Gene had many cherished friends and family; he never really met a stranger and would do anything for anybody. What a reunion must be going on in heaven. May he rest in peace.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
