Tom D. Flesher

March 11, 1927 ~ April 3, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old


ALBANY – Tom D. Flesher, well known local businessman, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was 90 years of age.  Born in Indianapolis on March 11, 1927, he was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Reppert Auctioneering School.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 and afterwards farmed in Randolph County for twenty years.  After receiving licensure for real estate and auctioneering he owned and operated his own business in Albany for fifty years, retiring in February of 2016.  Tom belonged to Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M., Albany, Scottish Rite, Ft. Wayne, Murrat Shrine, Indianapolis, Murpah Shrine Club, Muncie, and Albany Lions Club.  He was on the Strong Cemetery Board and formerly served on the Monroe Central School Board.  He also auctioneered at Delaware & Randolph County 4-H sales for forty years.  Tom was an honest, hard-working man with a good sense of humor.  He was an avid Indy 500 fan and enjoyed vacationing in Scottsdale, AZ.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Bilbrey) Flesher; his children: Robert D. Flesher (wife: Becky), Ft. Wayne, Rebecca S. Eberbach (husband: Fred), St. Louis, MO, Joel D. Flesher (wife: Jane), Ridgeville, and Karen A. Ackmann (husband: John), Noblesville; step-children: Rita Wesley (husband: Larry), Muncie, Sherry DeVoss, Farmland, Debbie Moss (husband: Steven), Florida, Robert Crabtree (wife: Patricia), Lafayette, and Ricky Alsip, Noblesville; seven grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, F. Demiah (Dee) & Bernice L. Flesher, and a brother: James “Jimmy” Flesher.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Fairview United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
