REDKEY – Paul E. Crawford, age 87, Redkey, died Thursday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Millgrove on July 21, 1925, he was the son of Ralph & Ruby (LeValley) Crawford. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Paul worked at both glass factories in Dunkirk, at Overhead Door in Hartford City, and Chevrolet in Muncie. He retired in 1982 from Borg Warner where he worked for 30 years. He also farmed & raised livestock for several years until 1992. Paul enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, E. Louise Crawford; 3 step-daughters: Pamela K. Mallory, Winchester, Janice M. McCord, Farmland, and Judy D. Shumaker (husband: Elvin), Union City, IN; 3 step grandchildren: Jasmine McCord, Raychel Shumaker, and Joshua McCord; a step great-grandchild: Savanna Hogle; 2 sisters: Irma Nuckols, Hartford City, and Eleanor Jeffers, Dunkirk; several nieces, nephews, and special friends: Lonnie & Barb Gannon, Dunkirk.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a step granddaughter: Tosha C. Hogle; 3 brothers: Steve, Stanley, and Lloyd; also, 3 sisters: Ruth, Wanda, and Billie.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
