ALBANY – Max DeVoe, age 81, Albany, died Monday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Randolph County on Nov. 17, 1931, he was the son of Clyde P. and Helen (Woods) DeVoe. He graduated from Green Township High School and was a resident of Albany for most of his life. As a skilled tradesman Max was a plasterer for over 40 years, working for Rosema Corp. and eventually with his sons before retiring in 2002. He belonged to the Plasterers Union and was a member of Albany Church of The Nazarene and Lakeview Golf Club. He was a former member of the Albany Town Board and over the years enjoyed camping, golfing, and square dancing.
Max leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Jeni DeVoe; a son: Stephen DeVoe (wife: Vanna), Muncie; a brother: Charles DeVoe, Blackford Co.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by 2 sons: Sid and Dan DeVoe; his parents; a grandson: Brandon Pinkston; 3 brothers: Floyd, Gerald, and James DeVoe, and a sister: Martha Sills.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association or Cancer Services of East Central Indiana (Little Red Door).
