REDKEY – Joan Garringer, age 78, a native of Randolph County, died Friday March 2, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an illness. Born August 6, 1939, she was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. She graduated from Green Township High School in 1957 and enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, traveling, and collecting antiques. Joan was a member of Order of The Eastern Star – Teresa Chapter 237, formerly in Albany. She retired in 1996 after 20+ years with Mutual Bank, Albany, where she was a teller, loan officer, and assistant manager.
Survivors include a son: Robert M. Garringer, Jr. (wife: Brigitte), Lewisville, TX; a daughter: Cindy Keller (husband: Brad), Albany; a daughter-in-law: Kathy Garringer, Ridgeville; two sisters: Linda Byers, Redkey, and Karen Smith (husband: Joe), Ridgeville; seven grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Garringer, Sr.; a son: Richard H. “Rich” Garringer, and parents: C. Howard & Ruby (Painter) Moon.
Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hopewell Cemetery, Farmland. Burial will follow.
