ALBANY – Don Martin, age 97, Albany, died Monday afternoon at Westminster Village, Muncie. Born in Dayton, Ohio on Sept. 29, 1919, he graduated from Indianapolis Arsenal Technical High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Don was a machinist at Schweitzer Corporation in Indianapolis for several years and also worked at Naval Avionics before retiring. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Dunkirk, and attended the past few years at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Muncie. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Martin; a step-daughter: Kathy McCollum, Albany, and several nieces & nephews.
His first wife, Mary Martin, died in 1997; his parents and two brothers are also deceased.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dunkirk. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery, Albany.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
