David R. Hunter

March 13, 1930 ~ August 11, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

ALBANY – David R. Hunter, age 87, Albany, died Friday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.  Born March 13, 1930 in Dugger, Indiana, he grew up there and graduated from Dugger Union High School in 1948.  Dave was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged.  He retired from Delco Battery after 37 years and farmed in Delaware County for several years.  When Dave attended Albany Christian Church he participated in the choir and was a member of the U.A.W., Albany Lions Club, Moose Lodge, and Prairie Creek Beagle Club.  He was a former bowler and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking trips to Florida.  Above all, his number one priority was the happiness and well-being of his family.

Survivors include his daughter: Lynn Jeffers (husband: Kyle), Albany, his granddaughter: Kyla L. Bartle (husband: Dave III), Yorktown, two great-granddaughters: Alexis & Brooklyn Bartle, and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Amy R. (Millick) Hunter, who died in 2015; also deceased are his parents: Robert F. & Geneva (Yung) Hunter, and three sisters: Mary Fusco, Carol Jane Dowden, and Eleanor French.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Meacham Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Heart Association.
